Today's my birthday, and since I've had most of my birthday with my family and friends already, I thought I'd spend it with my blogging buddies. So I'm going to be posting a lot today with photos, a movie and yes, a picture of me in tux. So grab your party hat and horn and join in!
Let's start with some photos. Saturday I was in Jenks, Oklahoma, to visit the Oklahoma Aquarium. Here are a few photos of the many exhibits.
A coral reef and a bright yellow fish.
Golden starfish.
A turtle pool.
A blue fish.
A catfish. I think.
A tidal pool.
A shark.
The movie is coming later as are more trip details and some other things I enjoyed this weekend. Stick around!

Happy birthday!!! Look-- the starfish are having a line dance in your honor! I'm so glad you made it to the aquarium; I think it's one of the best things in Oklahoma these days. I'm looking forward to the movie and more photos!!
Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!
Welcome, Trixie! Get some punch! I'll be cutting the cake later. I'm so glad you showed up. I was having this mental image of me sitting alone in a huge ballroom at a table. A hired band is playing in the background. Every so often, a robot monkey servant sitting in the rafters tosses a handful of bright confetti that drifts slowly to the floor. Somewhere a hotel manager hovers in background filled with horror and pity as he watches my humiliation. Midnight rolls around, and no one arrives. I leave and go home and do the only thing a man can do when his spirit has been broken: I rise up in anger and send armies of robots sweeping across the world and crush civilization beneath my booted heel! BWWAHHH!
Ahem. Actually many years ago, I was witness to a somewhat similar experience. I sold advertising for a small radio station in Western Oklahoma. The manager of a new rock and roll band called my station and bought ads for a dance at the local college. They purchased nearly $2,000 of ads, which for our station -- it wasn't quite a "dollar a holler" but that two thousand purchased a lot of air time the week before the dance. The manager also wanted an hour remote at the dance where our station would broadcast live.
We blanketed the air with commercials. The night of the dance, our announcer was live. I arrived thirty minutes after the dance was supposed to have started. Besides the band, the manager and the station announcer, I was the only one there. The manager was furious. I called the station manager and got approval to increase the number of live spots, desperately trying to attract some college students. For the next two hours, I stood there helplessly as only FIVE people showed up. The band gave up in disgust. The manager threatened to sue us, but we never heard from her again.
I never understood why that happened. Our station had remotes fairly often, and we had never had anything like that happen before or after. The band was actually pretty good, but I never heard anything about them again.
Thank you, Randall! Did you get any refreshments? Trixie's going to get tired dancing with both of us. We get to rest between dances, but she just has to dance and dance and dance. :)
Thank you, FF! You can assure your DH that we will maintain the proper distance in the dancing! :) But get some cookies and punch first. Cyber refreshments have no calories!
I'm working on uploading a couple of short videos via youtube.com. I hope to have there here soon.
Happy, happy birthday, Tech! Guess I'll just have to cut in, if Trixie and FF don't mind.
Where's the pic of you in your birthday suit? Maybe if I spike the punch I can convince you to put it on. :P
Thank you, Crystal, for the birthday wishes!
Three women to two men! So far the odds are just getting better. Well, for us guys it is. :)
I'm having trouble with youtube.com. Does anyone have any other suggestions for uploading video?
Happy birthday, dude. Many more! :-)
Nice pix!
I'm pretty pooped for this party! That leaves all the wimmins for you and Randall! ;-)
I may have missed a turn or two around the dance floor this evening. I am house sitting for a friend who is on vacation. That means playing with a rather large, young, enthusiastic puppy dog and a guinea pig, as well as watering lots of outdoor plants. I just have to make sure everything stays alive! Egads, the responsibility! At my house, I'm the only living thing that is supposed to be inside the house.
Anyway, where's the tux???
A Very Happy Birthday to you Tech. Hope you saved a dance for me ;)
Truly I hope it was the BEST one yet :)
I love the photos...
Thank you, Michelle. And yes, I saved a dance for you. Several even. :)
Thanks for dropping by, ER. And thanks for not taking any of these lovely women! You're a pal. :)
Ok the starfish photo is a very cool shot. Love the lineup and reflection. Nice color and detail too. :)
Happy Birthday! Great pictures. Aw, I think I missed dancing with you. The power has been out, arrgh! Perhaps some other time. ;0}
Thanks, Michelle. I made it into the background on my computer. It looks good.
Thanks, Rain! And definitely some other time. I'll give you a rain check. :)
