Okay, three thousand words tonight. It wasn't easy, but I was lifted up by something cool that came in the mail today.
You may recall that three or four weeks ago, I won a drawing on the Paperback Writer site ran by S.L. (Shelia Lynn) Viehl. Today my prizes came: Private Demon by Lynn Viehl, Last Girl Dancing by Holly Lisle, and Threads of Malice by Tamara Siler Jones. (Click on the books to purchase them from Amazon.com.) What with NaNoWriMo and everything going on in my personal life, I had actually forgotten I had won. So it was a wonderful surprise to receive three new books. And here's something even cooler: Lynn signed her book and also signed a bookmark, and she included a signed bookmark by Tamara Jones! Is that awesome or what? I had been feeling a bit down about NaNoWriMo because I had started out so well and then got behind and am having to rush to catch up. This just cheered me up immensely. Thank you, Lynn Viehl. I needed that.
And now I need sleep. Night!

Don't ya just love those little surprises? Like finding $5 you had forgotten in a jacket pocket, or coming across something kept that had been pushed back behind other thoughts.
Congrats on the win...and congrats on the numbers!
(Quietly rooting for you in her corner)
Hmm, I never find $5 in my pockets. I need to go through your closet, obviously! :)
Thanks for the congrats! Just 14,000 more words, God help me, and I'll have won NaNoWriMo. I'm hoping I catch a second breath in here somewhere! :)
You can do it, Tech. :)
Linda
Thanks, Mama Rose. (whispers) I think I can, too, but I'm afraid to say it too loudly because I'm afraid of jinxing myself! I didn't even know I was superstitious until now. Man, I want to win this. I actually ache to do so. How's that for driven? :)
By tonight, Randall, I hope it will just be 12,000 to go. It depends on how some things go in my personal life. Next year, I hope I can afford a laptop so that I can retreat to my room and type when my house is invaded!
You're doing great, Tech! I can't wait to read it. I so admire your skill with words and your determination and drive. I know you're going to reach 50,000!
Go, Tech, go!
Thanks, Gloria. I'm kinda interested in reading it myself! :)
I think the final push is always the hardest. Keep thinking of that finish line and you'll cross it soon!
Heyo, what are you going to reward yourself with? You'll deserve something great! I suggest chocolate and/or sex. :)
I haven't thought about a reward yet, Slim, but I have a feeling that if you were in charge of NaNoWriMo, more people would be finishing their books! :)
Doesn't chocolate inhibit the sex drive?
You're going to do it Tech. Just one of those things that a person just 'knows'.
*booty shakin'
3,000 words? Wow! Very impressive. You're almost there!
And I think Slim is right -- you need to find some way to reward yourself for all this hard work.
I've not heard that about chocolate, Michelle. Someone needs to do a study on that. I volunteer to be in the study! :)
Shake that booty!
I was surprised at how many I got, Crystal. One scene just rolled on out, using up nearly 1,500 words by itself. I did that in just over 30 minutes. The rest of the words look quite a bit longer.
Yeah, I think Slim had a good idea, too. I'm going to think on it.
Even if you stopped right now, 36000 words is amazing! I know you'll reach 50000. Go Tech go!
Thanks for the support, Patriot. I had lunch with a friend of mine who said he didn't think he had even written 36,000 words in his whole life. I expect that he might have because he did go to college.
You are so very close. Stick with it, Tech. You can do it.
And that is a wonderful threesome you just got.
Thanks for the encouragement, Jean.
I'll looking forward to reading them all.
Wow...the results one gets when they search about chocolate and sex drive. Yeesh...
Apparently it is just a myth as is the one about chocolate enhancing drive. Most of what I can see, that women associate the euphoria received by consuming chocolate, with sex (because women more often than men view sex and love as being one, generally speaking). The same endorphins are released when digested. And, perhaps explains why some, during a heartbreak or emotional trauma, crave foods that include or just chocolate itself.
Interesting reading. And what a test it would be huh? Heehee
And have the Happiest of Thanksgiving's...
You, too, Michelle! Have a great one! (And that is interesting research. It's amazing what's on the net these days.)
I reckon this hyear story just pushed poor ol' Patriot plumb over the edge, huh?
