200

As I typed in the 200th correction for Murder by the Acre last night, I thought about how cool it would be to have an assistant to do this for me. Some smart, engaging, funny person who knew exactly what I wanted to say and how to say it. And who would work very cheap. Free even. I can dream, can't I?

My health has improved a lot. I still have some chest congestion and occasional coughing spells when I attempt to cough up a couple of organs, but overall, I am much better. My ear remains the biggest annoyance: not so much the hearing loss, but the muted roar that I hear constantly. Supposedly that is indicative of nerve damage. I'm hoping my ear is still healing, and the roar goes away as it heals and the inflammation subsides. I go back to the specialist Friday, and I'm hoping he will have some good news for me.

Only one more episode of The Closer left before its season ends. Gonna miss it. The writing is superb as is the acting. I was particularly impressed by last night's episode. So much went on, but the writers still kept the show moving and focused. Not easy to do. I always feel that way about The Closer: that the people exist outside the boundaries of the format. Or maybe I just want to think Brenda, Fritz, and her crew are out there somewhere, solving the crimes, putting the bad guys away. That would be nice.

I saw The Kingdom on DVD recently. An impressive movie that I enjoyed. Jamie Fox and Jennifer Garner were excellent, but I was also impressed by Jason Bateman. I recommend the movie. It's violent, thought provoking, unrelenting, and almost unbearably sad. Watch it, and see if you don't think it's movie-making at its finest.

I continue to dabble in World of Warcraft. I now had a warlock character. So far, I like that character class best. I like shaman least of all. I play about 30 minutes to an hour every day. That might sound like a lot, but actually it's quite modest compared to the time commitment other people give to the game. I enjoy it for about that long, then I get bored and want to do something else. Still, it's fun to go and kill a few frustrations.

Not much else is going on in my life. I've been making an effort to keep my kitchen clean and my living room picked up. I need to dust again, one of my least favorite chores. Fortunately it's not been as dry here so we have less dust than normal. Wonder if that assistant would also dust.

I haven't been back in my pool since I got sick. Haven't felt like it, and the water is too cold. I need to work out a way to heat the water. Seventy-degree water is unpleasant. I'd like the water temp to be in the mid-eighties. That would be perfect. I've checked out pool heaters, but they're expensive. I did find some info on solar water heaters. I might see if that would work.

I hope you're having a great day. I'm supposed to -- I hope -- have lunch Thursday with Adam Huckeby and Kirsten of This Fluid Life and Now or Never respectively. I'll be sure to give you a report. And should any other of our commentors want to join us -- maybe you could fly in, Frenzied -- let me know. Talk to you later.

This comment exists only because our beloved Tech is being a comment slut this afternoon, begging for attention.

But I am very glad you're feeling so much better!

And definitely get a solar heater. It's mild enough here that you should be able to swim for a while yet with warm enough water.

Whore, Kirsten. Never a slut, I'm a comment whore. I have my dignity.

And I am better, thank you. I hope I get supremely well and then I will lord it over sick people ...

I think I could even make a solar heater. Got to talk my roomie into helping me.

I'm clearing my schedule as I type... ;)

When my parents were living just 20 miles from me, they had a solar blanket for their above-ground pool--it worked really well, sometimes too well given the temps we can to in the summer around here.

You said: It's violent, thought provoking, unrelenting, and almost unbearably sad. All the reasons I won't be watching it then. Thanks for the warning, I just can't take too much of that right now. :)

Will this be the first time Adam and Kirsten have met?

So sorry. Somehow I was assuming that sluts had more dignity than whores. But this is a capitalist society, after all, so doing it for money rather than pleasure must be more dignified.

Frenzied: Adam and I went to high school together. We were both on swim team and in band. So we haven't seen each other in years, but we aren't exactly strangers, either.

FF, wouldn't it be cool if you could be here?! Where are those Star Trek transporters? And apparently Adam and Kirsten have met before. I think they went to school together. Or prison. Hard to tell. They both have prison tats. I hope they don't cut me at the meal.

Exactly, Kirsten. I mean, you could practice your library skills for free, but wouldn't you rather libraryate for money?

Kirsten said...

Bwahahahahahaha! Tech thinks librarians get paid!

SBB said...

My sister is a librarian, and I happen to know she does receive a pittance from the state for her libraryating.

I'm glad your better, Tech. You've been in my prayers and will continue to be until you have TOTAL healing. We serve a mighty God and His desire is that we live a healthy happy life.

I enjoy The Closer too. I try to not miss it. I hope they get married soon. I'd like the show better if they were married.

I wonder if I should call that restaurant and warn them? :)

SBB said...

Thank you, Gloria. I appreciate you and your prayers and support.

The Closer is must-see TV for me.

Naw, let them be pleasantly surprised!

This is a full-time job! "I've been making an effort to keep my kitchen clean and my living room picked up." Ugh.

SBB said...

Isn't that the truth, ER! I get so tired of washiing dishes and folding laundry.

Where are you going to find a clone of yourself?

SBB said...

Oh, Jean, good idea! A clone ... I'll have to consult my mad scientist friends.

Looking forward to lunch. See ya Thursday

Yes, it would be very cool! :)

Adam, I woke up thinking lunch was today. I was rather disappointed when my brain finally woke up enough to tell me today was Wednesday.

FF, we need to meet some rich person with a jet who doesn't mind flying his/her friends around. My town does have an airport that can accommodate mid-size jets.

HI! we had a blanket and it does help a bit but still was too cold for me most of the year.

I don't like cold water at all, Roen. I'm sure it's good for you, bracing and all that, but I prefer warm waters. And white beaches. And palm trees. And waiters to bring me fruit drinks as I lounge around under a beach umbrella. Sigh. Sounds nice, doesn't it?

Weren't the "robot monkeys" the first attempts at cloning you?

Anonymous said...

wow 23 comments nice :)

SBB said...

Amber, the robots were imprinted with my psionic signature, but no actual cloning was involved.

Roen, it's the most comments I've had in long time.

Hum, maybe we could have the assistant up date the blog too!

I think he's not updating just to see how many comments this post will get.

SBB said...

Roen, I'd love to have assistant to do that!

Kirsten, and now we know how many it got! No, I just wasn't posting because of life. No plan. (But then, I'd say that, wouldn't I?)
