Carbohydrates are organic compounds with the empirical formula
Cm(H2O)n; that is, it consists only of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen
atom ratio of 2:1. What does that mean? I have no idea. In biochemistry,
carbohydrates are also known as monosaccharides, disaccharides,
oligosaccharides, and polysaccharides. (As Shakespeare put it:
“Carbs by any other name would still taste as sweet.”) Basically, carbs
are flavor molecules. They make food delicious. Actually, they work
hand-in-hand with calories, which also make food taste better. And fat.
Fat helps flavor, too. But I’m not supposed to have any of them.
