Does anyone know what kind of plant this is? I liked the
look of its bright orange berries.

I'm thinking that may be bittersweet because of the orange berries.

Thanks, Trixie, but I asked the store owner who has that shrub near his store and discovered that it is Pyracantha (Firethorn). To quote from About.com: "Firethorn is often grown as an evergreen wall-covering shrub, and it can be clipped into shape, although it can also be grown as a free-standing shrub. It has pretty white flowers in late spring or summer, but its main attraction is in autumn and winter, when it produces masses of colourful berries, in shades of red, orange or yellow. There can be fewer more colourful sights on a dull winter's day than a shrub such as this covered in berries. The birds tend to leave the berries alone until the weather is really bad, so the shrub remains colourful for a long time."
The variety shown in the photo is Orange Glow. So now I know.

And now, so do I! Thanks for letting me know, because I have one of these in my backyard. It has confused me -- I finally realized the previous owner had planted a vine that uses the plant as a support. Its flowers are completely different!
